11 SPORTS INSTITUTES are centers of excellence serving sporting people around Finland and athletes around the world. Sports Institutes provide a wide variety of sports, activities, educational possibilities and excellent facilities for professional and amateur sports enthusiasts.

ALL TOGETHER YET INDIVIDUAL
All 11 institutes are similar, yet each has its individual features, specialities and flavor.

TRAINING CENTERS FOR SPORTS
Sports Institutes are national training centers for Finnish sports associations and conduct instructor and coach education in co-operation with various associations and organizations. Institutes offer training facilities and coaching for athletes of different sports. Few sports institutes serve as national olympic training centers accredited by the Finnish Olympic Committee. Sports Institutes are also testing and consultancy centers that work as service units for exercise testing and research.

EDUCATION
Is a law bidding task of sports institutes, and they operate under authority of the Ministry of Education. Institutes are boarding schools offering vocational education in physical education (sports assistant), vocational further education for sports professionals (ie. coaches) and preparatory education (fe. basic course in physical education, 4 months)

LEISURE TIME OR BUSINESS OCCASIONS
Finnish nature is at the doorstep of each sports institute. In addition to high class sports facilities you can enjoy pure Finnish nature with lakes, hiking trails and seasonal activities. Recreational courses for families, sports courses for children and youth and fitness theme days are at your use. To name but a few.

ASSOCIATION OF SPORTS INSTITUTES OF FINLAND (ASIF)

Is an association managing tasks common to all 11 sports institutes. It coordinates projects, conducts marketing and lobbying, arranges meetings and what its board annually designs.

ASIF has an office in Varala Sports Institute, Tampere. Association is financed by sports institutes of Finland and the
Ministry of Education.
